I'll go out on a limb and ask---why would they do that in the first place? I think they would lose more people if they did that. They have already changed many things, much of it for the worse. I used to write here under a different account.

In all honesty I believe the Q&A and forum are among the best things about HP. I've gotten several ideas for hubs from reading them. It's also interesting to see different peoples opinions on various topics. It's probably the #1 reason I log on.
I've also offered advice to some people who have responded to me privately though email (thanking) me. It's good to help others.
The only negative I see is when people start personally attacking others with insults and name calling simply because they (disagree) with them! Some of the topics however do become redundant (What is love? Anti government, same sex marriage, Christians VS Atheists and so on) Some questions have been asked to death and only appear designed to get a rise out of folks.
Some people also will post 10 or more questions consecutively!!! Maybe there should be a limit as to how many questions one can post per day.

Maybe having a limit to the number of questions per day would stop this influx of spammers.

Are you referring to the Q & A section or the Squidoo forum dedicated to transition questions? The Q & A section is a source of revenue for HubPages because they also draw traffic much like Yahoo Answers. The Squidoo forum will probably remain up until the HP site gets a major overhaul. Since that isn't likely to happen in the near future, it will probably remain for quite a while.
